PSL: Pakistan Super League

The PSL: Pakistan Super League is a professional Twenty20 cricket league in Pakistan consisting of six teams representing different cities in the country. The league was founded in 2015 and is sanctioned by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

The league’s inaugural season took place in February 2016 and featured five teams: Karachi Kings, Lahore Qalandars, Peshawar Zalmi, Quetta Gladiators, and Islamabad United. The first season was won by Islamabad United, who defeated Quetta Gladiators in the final. Player of the series: Ravi Bopara (Karachi Kings).

In 2017, a sixth team, the Multan Sultans, was added to the league. The 2017 season was won by Peshawar Zalmi, who defeated Quetta Gladiators in the final. Player of the series: Kamran Akmal (Peshawar Zalmi).

The 2018 season saw the return of international players to the league, as the PCB had lifted its ban on overseas players participating in domestic tournaments. This season was won by Islamabad United, who defeated Peshawar Zalmi in the final. Player of the series: Luke Ronchi (Islamabad United).

The 2019 season saw the addition of a new team, the Lahore Qalandars, and the return of international players to the league. The season was won by Quetta Gladiators, who defeated Peshawar Zalmi in the final. Player of the series: Shane Watson (Quetta Gladiators).

The 2020 season, which was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, featured six teams and was won by Karachi Kings, who defeated Lahore Qalandars in the final. Player of the series: Babar Azam (Karachi Kings).

The 2021 season saw the return of international players to the league, Multan Sultans was won this season, who defeated Peshawar Zalmi in the final. Player of the series: Sohaib Maqsood (Multan Sultans).

The 2022 season saw the return of international players to the league, Lahore Qalandars was won this season, who defeated Multan Sultans. Player of the series: Mohammad Rizwan (Multan Sultans).

The PSL has seen a number of international players participate in the league, including Chris Gayle, Kevin Pietersen, and Shane Watson. The league has also seen a number of Pakistani players make their mark, including Shahid Afridi, Misbah-ul-Haq, and Umar Akmal.

The league has received criticism for its lack of transparency and allegations of corruption. However, the PCB has made efforts to address these issues and improve the league’s credibility.
